Kazdou nedeli oziva v londynskem East Endu pres tyden ticha Kolumbijska ulice nespocetnym mnozstvim stanku s kvetinami vsech moznych barev, velikosti a druhu, za slunecneho i destiveho pocasi. Skvelou atmosferu trhu podkresluji poulicni muzikanti a hlavne trhovci vykrikujici klasicke ‘Everything for a fiver’ a  ‘What a bargain!’ tedy ‘Vse za petku’ a ‘Skvela koupe!’ a dalsi.

During the week quiet Columbia street in London’s East End comes alive every Sunday, rain or shine, with stalls offering endless amount of plants of all possible colors, sizes and types. There are also small shops in pretty Victorian houses, most of them closed during the week, but bursting at the seams with locals and many tourists on Sundays, selling everything from vintage clothes to gardening tools and designer furniture or jewellery. The great atmosphere of the market is accentuated by buskers and most of all by hawkers shouting loudly classical ‘Everything for a fiver!’, ‘What a bargain!’ and more. Everyone seems to be enjoying this.

Good stuff – Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

Last week I discovered a little gem in Dalston.  It’s a place called Dalston Eastern Curve garden and it is situated opposite the Dalston junction station.  When you come in,  you find peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, leaving the chaos and noise of the city behind. It is a cafe with a garden. But don’t expect perfectly cut grass, pretty antique chairs and upright little fingers on hands holding posh porcelain tea cups. This isn’t Chelsea, this is not Richmond, this is East London! You are having cuppa in someone’s garden. There are flowerbeds and vegetables too, some bushes and birches. Bean bags are scattered on the grass and you can also find plastic chairs and wooden benches to sit at by simple tables. There is a sheltered area too, but I enjoyed sitting in the open space. The service was very friendly and chatty. I ordered a pot of fresh mint tea and it was fresh indeed – the waitress closed the till and went to the garden to fetch some mint leaves 🙂

After this visit I was sad to read, that this place might disappear soon, giving way to to be redeveloped Kingsland shopping centre (read more here: http://dalstonist.co.uk/latest-plans-for-kingsland-shopping-centre-redevelopment-revealed/). Surely it would be nice to turn the ugly shopping centre into fancy hub with pretty shops and cafes, but it would be much nicer, if the Curve garden stayed for local community and visitors alike to enjoy.

Minuly tyden jsem v Dalstone objevila maly poklad. Tohle misto se jmenuje Dalston Eastern Curve garden and nachazi se naproti stanici Dalston junction. Kdyz vstoupite dovnitr, naleznete poklidnou, uvolnujici atmosferu, nechajic chaos a hluk velkomesta venku. Je to proste takova kavarna se zahradou. Ale necekejte perfektne zastrizeny travnik, romanticka starozitna kresilka a vztycene malicky rukou drzicich nobl porcelan. Tohle neni Chelsea, tohle neni Richmond, tohle je vychodni Londyn!

8 bit lane – 8 bitova ulice

One street near Brick lane, trendy area in east London especially busy on Sundays during markets, got transferred this weekend into 8 bit lane – with pixelated trees, pigeons, a taxi or a dog created by sculptor Aden Hynes. All related to new Disney movie Wreck It Ralph.

It was fun walking along the 80 ‘s arcade games decorated street plus  those with Blippar app on their phones could point it at one particular house and play a game in 3D.

Vse soucasti propagace noveho Disney filmu Wreck It Raplh.

IMGP0069diptychCropPrijemne straveny cas bloumanim ulici ozdobenou v duchu arkadovych her z 80tych let. Plus ti, kteri meli na svem telefonu aplikaci Blippar, jej mohli namirit na jeden konkretni dum a zahrat si hru v 3D.

Car park / Parkoviste

Yesterday I visited a disused underground car park, which might be used in couple of weeks for filming. Lots of new graffiti appeared since the last time I’ve been there!

Od me posledni navstevy v nem pribylo spousta graffiti!
